Can the Brits possibly re-vote and abort this whole stupid exit?
![]() 03/19/2019 at 19:36 |

Flip side, one of my best friends is a Dutchie who works in Scotland, and I’m pretty sure she has zero idea what the fuck will happen, outside of some vague statements from her employer that they’re very concerned.

sure... soon as the politicians over there decide they want to maybe give that option a try
europe wont stop em...
but brexit means brexit eh?
...

That is surprisingly human for a faceless bureaucracy and much more logical than whatever the hell is happening in the UK right now.

well shit.. im sorry for that... heres to hoping it all goes well for her

It’d be nice if Corbin was even slightly interested in actually keeping them in the EU.

Yeah, same here. She actually likes Scotland and owns a house, but isn’t quite ready to apply for citizenship.

whats happening in the uk right now is that after letting the public decide what they want based on limited info (and somewhat faulty info)
for the first time in history politicians are going to listen to the peoples vote...and go through with it no matter how much the peoples complain
its almost like theres a secondary agenda going on here... but fuck if i know what it is (money)

There’s a campaign for a second referendum and some polls have suggested that in the event of remain might win, but I don’t see it happening. There’s no appetite for it in Parliament at the moment as the feeling is that going to the people a second time is undemocratic and suggests that the people got it wrong the first time and are going to be given the question over and over again until they give the right answer.
Ironically most MPs are personally opposed to leaving.

And thus is revealed the folly of representative government. Go tear up the Magna Carta, etc., gents. It’s back to the drawing board.
![]() 03/19/2019 at 19:53 |

My understanding was that most of the citizenry were regretting the decision as well.
![]() 03/19/2019 at 19:53 |

too late. to do a proper organized referendum, the process would be close to 5 months, which is way past EU elections, so there is a whole mess as all the seats have already been reassigned (without the UK).

The
queen needs to step in and stop brexit
![]() 03/19/2019 at 19:56 |

to be fair tho..... its not really representive government if neither side give the populace the actual fucking facts
![]() 03/19/2019 at 19:59 |

That would just confuse their little minds and make them anxious. Better to just tell them what you need them to hear.
![]() 03/19/2019 at 19:59 |

i think she could
but that would be the end of the royals
![]() 03/19/2019 at 20:01 |

Very undemocratic to let the people decide indeed. Obviously, representative government is not supposed to work that way, but in theory the representatives also should be willing to say that neither the deal or the no deal brexit isn’t what was sold to the people, and so they get to actually use their brains to determine a proper course of action.
The real problem is that most of the people who would feel “betrayed” by a second referendum are Tory voters, so obviously the Tory politicians are hesitant to piss them off.

The Dutch are keen to steal away those banking jobs from London, and while I’m pretty sure farscythe is not a secret banker, I would imagine they are setting themselves up to make it fairly easy for UK expats to work in the Netherlands.

Maybe, but it would be worth it to save the country from doom.
She’s getting old, so she has nothing to lose, and
Brexit would do more damage than royal intervention to stop it

The Commons voted down the option of a second referendum the other day.
They also voted down a no-deal Brexit.
But the PM is going to put it to the E.U. for an extension to article 50, which isn’t a given for them to agree to it and they may say that no headway is being paid and disallow it.
The PM was not allowed to put the the Commons for another vote at the House Speaker Bercow used a 17th century ruling that you can't put the vote to the House more than twice if the deal is not sufficiently different for it now to be classed as the same deal.

power over what tho?
in the short term at least.. a no deal britain has nothing much going for it
im not smart enough for the long term
unless they just wanna rule the isles with an iron fist
(wich has always gone so well for any whove tried it)

I don’t like Corbyn because he doesn’t commit to anything, he’s anti Trident, etc...
Corbyn has always been anti Europe while Labour is pro-Europe and May has always been pro-Europe and the Tories anti-Europe.
It's crazy, all of it.

Ye’, the Commons voted down the option for a second referendum.
I hope it comes to a second one though.

Last month I had a customer in who had just returned from Slovenia where she was a vet.
She got a letter from the Slovenian government saying about her status in that with Brexit, she will be allowed to remain, if Slovenian ex-pat are allowed to remain in Britain. So she decided to move back to the U.K. as it was too vague an answer for her.

There’s a lot about him that I like, but his approach to a new vote is just shameful. I get that he’s an old-school leftie, but at some point you have to actually put some effort into representing the majority of your party members. He seems to want nothing more than to run out the clock on Brexit and then win a GE without catching blame for pulling out.

Its time to stop the fucking insanity. Y'all ain't really gonna let the country go down in flames just because some folks who live there are willing to let it are you!?! COME ON THERES GOTTA BE SOMETHING SOMEONE OVER THERE CAN DO TO STOP THIS

I can’t stand him.

I will say, the result of the last election did a lot to endear him to me. I don’t know how much of that was Brexit pushback, but at least he demonstrated that he was a viable candidate. In general, he’s probably awful, but choosing the least painful poison pill seems to be the way all democratic countries are going these days.

Second week of ‘You Stupid Motherfuckers Actually Picked This Shit,’ the queen will
give a speech from the balcony that goes something like: “so, who wants absolute monarchy back
now
?”
I mean, everything for miles - sorry, kilometers - will be on fire, London will look like a scene out of 28 Days, and every rational financial institution and multinational business will have left already. But you can damn well bet the survivors will go right along with guillotining every fucking Nazi UKIP, Conservative , and Brexiter they can get their hands on.
But hey, at least you can tear down Canary Wharf to build an airport now.
![]() 03/19/2019 at 21:43 |

I agree - really nothing to loose. I know she prides herself on being politically hands off, but she is a strongly opinionated and smart person. I’m confident she sees how the whole thing plays into the hands of some not very nice folks. The whole thing has got to remind her of the 1930's...

From what I understand on Brexet is the Politics are just like Mordor 5 minutes after the ring went into the lava in Mount Doom.

Thing is Corbyn says what people want to hear, but when challenged, he climbs onto the fence and won’t commit.
I'm not fully Tory. I'm not a big fan of all these austerity measures, but then I'm not a fan of Labours, 'let's spend and worry about it another day'. I think the cut-backs can be reigned in somewhat and get on with running government.

My secondary agenda was to elope with a beautiful Dutch woman so i could live there forever. That did not happen. Sigh.

I genuinely think his endgame is just getting a majority at any cost, without any worry of what comes next. At some point, you’d think he’d just pretend to represent the full party. There’s being anti-New Labour, and there being a dick, and he’s being a dick. At this point, his saving grace is that the Lib Dems shit the bed last time.

Both parties are losing people, Labour due to anti-Semitic crap and Conservative due to Brexit and how it’s being handled.
Ironically the ones that want to remain in Europe are leaving the party because of how Brexit is going, that's in some part why people voted to leave, due to how Europe was being run and over ruling British laws.

I mean, the entire concept of
monarchy is bad anyway, so it’s overdue, IMHO. But hey, I’m in the country that revolted against that a few centuries ago, so Britain should do what makes the British happy, not necessarily listen to me.
(And egads, look at how not-monarchy’s turned out for us lately. We ‘muricans really shouldn’t be ones to talk, I guess. Egads, I say. E-gads.)
It sounds like the actual solution to this whole shebang
would be to suck it up and have a re-vote now that everyone’s aware what’s at stake, but nah, that makes too much sense.
